Good news for all the gourmets in HCAS! Be it the yummy snack during the coffee break or the sumptuous tummy filling feast during lunch; be it a sip of a variety of drinks in the evening or a birthday bash thrown by a friend, the students of HCAS now do not have to wander out of the campus.

JAVAGREEN, “Your friendly neighbourhood café”, a venture of the Reliance Pvt. Ltd, opened its outlet in the HCAS campus on 25th September 2008. The outlet was formally inaugurated by Dr. Susan Marthandan, Director, HCAS by cutting the cake. The other dignitaries present were Mr.Darell and Mr.Steve from JAVAGREEN Ltd., Dr. Cecilia Thangarajan, Principal, HCAS and Mr. Samuel Sampath Kumar, Vice-Principal, HCAS.

This is the 18th outlet of Javagreen in Chennai, and the second one in an educational institution. Priced at affordable rates, it offers an assortment of snacks and drinks to choose from. The students can select from Coffee Coolers to Ice-Blended Granitas, Sandwiches to Burgers and Wraps and Ice-Cream Sundaes to Pastries. “Death by Chocolate is our speciality. It is an exclusive item of our outlet.”, says Mr. Ganesh, Supervisor, Javagreen HCAS outlet.

Situated in the eastern part of the College, the café, overlooking the scenic Muttukadu Lake is an apt destination for the students and lecturers, seeking respite after a hectic day. The coffee shop functions from 8.30am to 8.00pm, keeping in mind the demands of the hostel students.

Mano, a fresher says,Javagreen is awesome. It rocks!. “Finally, a place to hang out!” adds Sam, a final year student. The popularity of the café can be judged by the number of students flocking to the counter in huge numbers.

So, the next time a friend loses a bet, you know where to take him to!
